BA1DAY - Operate Breathing Apparatus (MSMWHS216 )

This course is nationally accredited and provides participants with the necessary knowledge and skills required to safely use and operate and maintain breathing apparatus (open circuit) in an irrespirable atmosphere as defined by the Australian Standard AS/NZS 1715:2009.

This Unit is recommended for participants who are required to wear breathing apparatus in the workplace in a confined space, working with hazardous gases/vapours, in an oxygen deficient atmosphere or in other situations requiring the wearing of breathing apparatus.

Language, literacy and numeracy requirements from the unit are:
- Writing is required to the level of completing written assessments.
- Numeracy is required to enable the determination of similar activities.

The course will be based on theoretical sessions, equipment demonstrations and practical exercises.

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Riklan Emergency Management Services (RTO 51994)

Face to face and practical hands-on training conducted by an experienced Emergency Services instructor with strong knowledge of relevant legislation and Australian Standards.

If you are a new or continuing student undertaking nationally recognised training, you need a USI in order to receive your qualification or statement of attainment for this unit.
