AVI_GEN – PUAFIR305B Respond to Aviation incidents (General)

This unit applies to personnel required to respond to an aircraft incident, primarily outside the major domestic and international airports.

This unit is not intended to replace work undertaken by aviation firefighters who specialise in aviation firefighting. Training for aviation firefighting is encompassed within other units within the Fire Sector qualifications.

The aim of this course is to provide a forum to facilitate the skills and competency to respond to an aviation incident, under supervision, as a member of a non-specialist team.

The course focuses on emergency response in an aviation context, and does not factor time for training or attainment in pre-requisite knowledge and skills. If the pre-requisite knowledge and skills are not demonstrated to the standard specified for the units, a skills development plan will be recommended to provide the participants the opportunity to attain competency.

BA_1DAY – Operate Breathing Apparatus – 1 DAY

This competency applies to operators who are required to wear breathing apparatus for
part of their job – because they are working in a confined space, with hazardous gases/vapours, in an anoxic atmosphere or for other applications requiring the wearing of breathing apparatus. They may also be required to wear it in emergency situations, however this is not the prime focus of this unit, and so makes this unit different from PUAFIR207B Operate breathing apparatus open circuit, as it has no prerequisite and is much broader in its application.
